Meet Caren

Caren Charles-De Freitas is a children’s book author, literacy advocate, and dedicated school director whose passion for empowering young minds through education and storytelling continues to make a lasting impact on children and families around the world.

With a deep commitment to literacy and child development, Caren creates children’s books designed to inspire imagination, confidence, cultural awareness, and a lifelong love for reading. Her stories are rooted in meaningful life lessons, helping children navigate important topics such as friendship, kindness, hygiene, anti-bullying, disability awareness, respect, compassion, and positive character development.

As a school director who works closely with children on a daily basis, Caren brings a unique and valuable perspective to her work as an author. Her firsthand experience in education allows her to understand how children learn, engage with books, and develop literacy skills in real classroom settings. This practical knowledge shapes her storytelling, making her books relatable, impactful, and effective tools for both schools and homes.

Caren strongly believes that reading is fundamental to a child’s development, influencing not only academic success but also creativity, empathy, confidence, and self-expression. She understands the importance of children seeing themselves reflected in stories and being encouraged to explore new ideas through books that both educate and inspire.

As a newly published author under Palatial Publishing LLC, Caren has already begun expanding her literary reach internationally. Her recent global book tour brought her to Lowmans Windward Anglican School, where she partnered with the institution in a meaningful celebration of literacy. Known for its commitment to academic excellence and nurturing young minds, the school provided the perfect setting for Caren to connect directly with students, reinforcing the importance of reading, learning, and personal growth.

Through school visits, author talks, literacy initiatives, classroom read-alouds, and community partnerships, Caren remains committed to creating innovative opportunities to bring books into schools, classrooms, libraries, and homes. Her mission is simple yet powerful: to strengthen literacy, foster joy in reading, and help shape the next generation of confident, compassionate, and curious young readers.

For Caren, every story is more than just words on a page, it is an opportunity to inspire, empower, and transform lives.
